Gent prepares for Conference League playoffs. And that has naturally affected the league and OH Leuven. The home match of the Buffalo's against OH Leuven on Saturday 22 August at 20.45 will be postponed. Gent must face Hibernian in a European match on Thursday 20 August, and then in their own home. A week later, the return match will take place in Scotland. With matches on 20 and 27 August, there is simply no room to play competitive football on 22 August. There must be at least three days between the matches. Moreover, the Pro League wants to support Belgian clubs that are active in Europe as much as possible. For OHL, this means especially: an extra week without competitive matches. And maybe that comes at the right time. The Leuveners have started the season dramatically with a 0-6.

Extra training match for OHL But in Leuven, they are not giving up. Timmy Simons and his players will not get a week's vacation. “We will play a training match against Union on Friday”, said the OHL coach after the match against Club Brugge. “Then we have an English week with three matches in seven days. That rest is welcome.” Simons gets some extra time to get his team back on track. After defeats against Club Brugge and Sporting Charleroi, OHL is still without points.

European commitments upset the calendar OHL will resume the competition on 29 August with a home match against Standard. Then follows on Thursday 3 September the catch-up match against KAA Gent. The busy week will be closed with a transfer to the promoted SK Beveren. It's no coincidence that Leuven is playing a training match against Union. Anderlecht, Union and STVV also had their matches postponed due to their European commitments. So Anderlecht-KV Kortrijk will be moved from Sunday 23 August to Thursday 3 September at 20.30. STVV-Union will then be played on Wednesday 2 September at 20.30. After the European preliminary rounds, there will be a new update of the calendar on 1 September. Robbie Maes
