Gent host Standard Liege at the Planet Group Arena on Friday night. Manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck's side aims to continue a strong run of four wins in their last five league matches.

The club currently sits second in the Jupiler Pro League with 16 points from six games. The home side is unbeaten in their last five league outings, with four victories and a draw. Their most recent result was a 1-1 draw away to Genk, where Momodou Sonko scored the equaliser.

Standard Liege visit Gent sitting sixth in the table. Les Rouches lost their last away match 4-2 to Westerlo. The last meeting between the two sides, in January, ended in a 0-4 victory for Gent at Standard's ground.

Matisse Samoise remains sidelined with an anterior cruciate ligament injury. The midfielder is not expected back until the end of October. The rest of the squad is available for selection.

Gent's lineup against Genk was a 3-4-2-1 formation with Davy Roef in goal. The defence consisted of Moustapha Ngom, Cameron Burgess and Shuto Van der Heyden. The midfield featured Matisse Samoise, Tarik De Vlieger, Maxime Delorge-Knieper and Tiago Araújo. The attacking trio was formed by Kyrell Wilson, Momodou Sonko and Jhonny Vergara Ortega.
