Gent sells Hugo Cuypers to Chicago Fire for 12 million euros. The top scorer from last season leaves the Buffalo's after a successful period.
Hugo Cuypers joined Gent in the summer of 2022 and scored 51 goals in 90 games. The player from Liege was disappointed that Gent did not cooperate with a transfer last summer, but now he leaves for Chicago Fire.
Gent receives 12 million euros for the transfer of Cuypers, but also has to pay a resale commission to KV Mechelen and Olympiakos Piraeus. This is an important decision for the future of the club.
Gent now has to look for a new top scorer to compensate for the departure of Cuypers. The club is currently in 5th place in the competition, with 29 points from 40 games.

Gent now has the time to find a new player and resume the competition. The departure of Cuypers is a big loss, but the club must look to the future.
