KAA Gent wins 0-1 in Gothenburg and returns to Belgium with a good starting position. The Buffalo's held out in the second half and can finish the match next week at home. It was a thrilling match, but Gent knew what to do. The team started cautiously, but took more and more control of the game in the first half. A dominant midfield and a secure defense ensured that they did not get into trouble in the first half against their Swedish opponent. In the second half, the home team showed a different face. Göteborg started furiously and turned the tables from the first half quickly. Unlike the Buffalo's, they failed to find the net. A strong defense, excellent finishing and a bit of luck ensured that their nets remained clean. Heintz, Clemmensen and Wiberg shot each other short of Roef to outsmart. In the end, Burgess headed Gent so close to a double lead, but his attempt was blocked by the post. Göteborg also dominated in the end, but chances remained out. Gent at least did what it had to do and leaves with a goal bonus and a great starting position back home. Next week, the return match will take place in the Planet Group arena.
