KAA Gent Foundation takes over the youth house at Watersportbaan to support and develop young people. The youth house will be a place where young people can meet, study and grow at their own pace. At the request of the young people, plans are being made for a music studio. For girls, there will be a separate offer. KAA Gent Foundation is no stranger to the neighborhood: the association has been organizing neighborhood football, walking football and other social-sportive activities for several years. The youth house will build on this, becoming a place where young people can come together, study and grow at their own pace. Over the coming months, KAA Gent Foundation will take the time to further shape the content of the youth house with the young people and neighborhood partners. At the request of the young people themselves, plans are already being made for a music studio. For girls, a separate offer will also be developed. A building becomes a neighborhood place when the doors are literally and figuratively open. Not only young people will therefore be welcome in the youth house, the neighborhood will also be able to use the space. The strength of this project lies in what is already there: a trust relationship with young people in the neighborhood. Building on this is precisely what a good youth house does. The youth house work is one of the actions within 't Bougeert aan de Watersportbaan, the urban renewal program with which Gent will invest in the livability of the neighborhood over the coming years. In addition to the youth house work, there are also tracks on social housing, care and public space.
