KAA Gent hold serious interest in South African defender Malibongwe Khoza. Journalist Ekrem Konür reported the Belgian club's interest in the player.
The 22-year-old Khoza is under contract with Mamelodi Sundowns and is a South African international. He made his debut on 8 August 2025 and has earned four caps to date. Khoza featured in the most recent Africa Cup of Nations but was not part of the World Cup squad last summer. This season, he has started five of his club's first six league matches, scoring once.
"KAA Gent has serious interest in Khoza," said Ekrem Konür. The journalist added that the club views the defender as a young player with a solid role at his current team.
A transfer is not imminent, however. SV Ried and FC Nantes are also monitoring the player's situation. It is unclear whether any concrete offers have been sent to South Africa.
The interest comes as Gent are enjoying a strong start to the season. The club sits second in the Jupiler Pro League with 19 points from seven games. Their last five matches have yielded four wins and a draw. The next fixture is an away trip to sixth-placed Zulte Waregem. The full schedule is available on our fixtures page and the current standings show the club's position.
