Video analyst Kürsat Kaplan has left KAA Gent with immediate effect after five years. The 37-year-old is joining Turkish club Çorum FK to become part of the technical staff under manager Burak Yilmaz.
The move was completed during the international break. Kaplan received the offer in the first week of the break and felt he could not turn it down. "It all happened super fast," Kaplan said. "It soon became clear I could not refuse this offer. This is the chance of my life."
The analyst thanked everyone at Gent for their cooperation. "I am incredibly grateful to everyone in Gent for their constructive attitude," Kaplan stated. He expressed specific gratitude to head coach Rik De Mil. The club did not block a quick transfer and facilitated his move.
Kaplan had only made the step from the Jong AA Gent setup to the first team last season. His departure comes in the middle of a strong start to the campaign for De Mil's side. Gent are second in the Jupiler Pro League after seven matchdays with nineteen points and are unbeaten in their last five games.
The Buffaloes return from the international break with an away fixture against Zulte Waregem. The full standings and fixtures schedule can be found on our site. Kaplan begins his new adventure at Çorum FK, an ambitious club in the Turkish top flight.
