KAA Gent have secured the future of young defender Mamadou Diallo with a new contract. The 19-year-old Senegalese has signed a deal until the summer of 2029.
The club announced the extension officially on Sunday via its website and social media. "KAA Gent has opened up and extended the contract of Mamadou Diallo until 2029," the club stated. Diallo, a left-footed centre-back, joined from the Senegalese youth academy Académie Diambars in the summer of 2025. He started with Jong KAA Gent but has been training regularly with the first team this season.
"He joined Jong KAA Gent and has since made 24 appearances for our club," Gent added. The club sees further growth potential in the player and hopes he will eventually break into the senior squad. The extension comes during a strong run of form for Gent. The Buffaloes are second in the Jupiler Pro League with 19 points from seven games and are unbeaten in their last five matches (WDWWW).
The next challenge is an away fixture against sixth-placed Zulte Waregem on Saturday, 10 October. Fans can check the full standings and upcoming fixtures on our site. Diallo's new contract runs for another two and a half years.
